Pell Grants also need big boost
by Kim Mazzuca
The House of Representatives approved legislation that provides
a 50 percent reduction in interest on student loans. This sounds
like good news. But many educational advocates, including myself,
believe that this money would have a greater impact on making higher
education attainable - and would do more to narrow the gap in college
enrollment between low-income students and their more affluent
counterparts - if the same money was used instead to increase the
amount available for Pell Grants... Read more.

College for Everyone: Marin Education Fund finds a way for those
with the will
by Samantha Bronson
In a community as wealthy and well educated as Marin
County, it is difficult to imagine that a college education is
beyond the reach of some local students. Marin, after all, boasts
some of the nation’s best public schools, and prepping for
college begins well before high school. The percentage of adults
here with bachelor’s degrees is almost double the state average,
so it is hardly surprising that for many local children college
is not a matter of if but where... Read more.

Marin's Investment in education pays off
by Michael Dibley

the grit and determination to earn a degree in accounting. I can,
however, lay claim to being the second college graduate in my family
and the first to become a teacher - an achievement made possible
