10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael
SAN RAFAEL, CA (MAY $, 2006) –Tonight marks
Marin Education Fund’s 25th anniversary where Marin Education
Fund’s President, Kim Mazzuca will call on county policy-makers
and community leaders to renew their commitment to education and
work to “ensure that everyone has a chance at college.”
“Over the last 25 years, Marin Education Fund
has made a difference one student at a time; now the challenge
is to open the doors of college opportunity to everyone in Marin
County,” said Mazzuca.
The 25th anniversary event will include some of the
over 15,000 Marin County residents who have received assistance
from Marin Education Fund. Current scholarship recipients will
also be in attendance, as will a class of third-graders representing
the next generation of Marin scholars.
“After 25 years, our work is just beginning.
We’ve identified the problems and created the solutions.
We now call on those who lead and those who live in Marin County
to make the opportunity of education available to everyone who
lives here,” said Mazzuca.
The 25th anniversary event will honor Elaine Petrocelli,
owner of Book Passage, for her commitment to education in the county.
Michael Krasney, Ph.D., host of KQED’s Forum will
serve as Master of Ceremonies.
“With our county's affluence and strong civic
values, we have the chance to help those who have been traditionally
underrepresented in higher education have access to the same educational
opportunities. Our charge over the next 25 years is to make this
opportunity a reality and ensure that everyone has a chance at
college,” Mazzuca said.
