Undergraduate Scholarships
Fact: 73% of Marin Education Fund scholarship recipients are first in their families to attend college.
Marin Education Fund provides undergraduate scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per academic year to students with significant financial need who are enrolled in a minimum of 9 units per semester. The scholarship is renewable for up to six years for students who demonstrate academic progress.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be attending an accredited or state-approved school and enrolling in:
- An undergraduate program leading to an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or teaching credential
- At least one semester or two quarters during the academic year
- A minimum of 9 units per term
- Marin County residency

Application Deadline:
The deadline for the 2008-09 undergraduate scholarship has now passed.
When you apply for a Marin Education Fund Undergraduate Scholarship, you are automatically considered for these other scholarships. No additional paperwork is required. We will notify you if you qualify:

- Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship
- Kai Chong Tong Scholarship
- Michaels Family Scholarship
- North Bay Council/Roger Grossman Scholarship for Community Service
- Paula Scholarship
To apply for the scholarship below, you must submit a separate application:
Betty Times Education Scholarship
Purpose: Assist students who are African American/Black with
postsecondary education.
Eligibility criteria: Students under the age
of 25. Minimum 2.0 G.P.A.
Award: Up to $2,000
Dolores C. Swoyer Scholarship
Purpose and Eligibility: To provide financial assistance
to undergraduate studies.
Award: $2,500 (renewable annually)
Kai Chong Tong Scholarship
Purpose and Eligibility: Provide financial assistance to
Chinese American students who are pursuing their undergraduate education at
San Francisco State University. Must be a San Francisco State University student
of Chinese American descent.
Award: Up to $1,000
Michaels Family Scholarship
Award: $2,500

North Bay Council/Roger Grossman Scholarship for Community Service
Purpose and Eligibility: To assist community service-minded
students pursuing postsecondary education or training for a business-related
degree. Must be a Marin or Sonoma county high school senior interested in
a business-related degree who have a demonstrated financial need.
Award: $1,500 - $2,500
Paula Scholarship
Award: $2,500 - $5,000

The New Leader Scholarship of the Goldman Family Fund
Award: Up to $7,000
Purpose and Eligibility:
- Enrollment in one of the following Bay Area public universities: California State University, East Bay Campus; San Francisco State University; San Jose State University; Sonoma State University; or University of California at Berkeley
- Upper division student who has attended the school for one academic year or more, with 60 units or more, 30 of which were attained at the present university.
- Studying the social sciences, human services, public interest law, health-related fields, or public service
- A minimum 3.5 GPA either at the current school or at a combination of the current school plus all schools previously attended. Consideration will be given to students with a GPA of 3.2 - 3.49.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units each in the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters.
